The beautiful soul-stirring festival of God’s Own Country is celebrated in memory of the victory of Chittur Nairs (the warrior community of Kerala) against the battle of the militia of nearby Konganadu in 918 C.E. It is believed that Goddess Bhadrakali saved them.

Parumala Perunnal
Parumala Perunnal is an annual feast held to commemorate the death anniversary of Bishop Mar Gregorios Metropolitan, the first canonised saint of the Malankara Orthodox Church of Kerala. The mortal remains of the Bishop are interred in the church.

Manarcaud Perunnal
It is known for the Manarcad Perunnal, the annual feast at the St. Mary’s Church, which is usually held from September 1-8 (during the 8-Day Lent). It is located about 9 km from the town of Kottayam and is on the way to tourist town of Thekkady.

Edathua Perunnal is one of Kerala’s most famous church festivals that is held every year from 27th April – 7th May. It is celebrated at the stunning St. George’s Church in Edathua, not very far away from the town of Alappuzha.
